Hard Boiled Egg PSA

If you’re going to hard boil eggs for Easter, buy them today, label them, and leave them in your fridge till Holy Saturday.

Older eggs peel much more easily than fresh eggs. Ten days is even still a little too fresh… but I forgot to buy them before now. Mea culpa.

    If you add one or two tablespoons of baking soda, OR about a half-cup of vinegar, it makes it easier to peel even new eggs. (vinegar makes the shells feel a little chalky and delicate)

      This is interesting, but it has never worked for me. I do cook mine with vinegar, because I dye them red with onion skins and need vinegar for that. The only sure fire way I’ve found to have them peelable is to cook old eggs.

    So you buy now but don’t cook till Saturday?
    I’m not sure I have the room in my fridge.
