This lunchtime conversation is pretty typical around here…

From a brainstorming session for GeekBaby’s 3rd birthday party:

Me: Oh, I know! We should get an Ewok piñata for the party! (The party is Star Wars themed.)

Mike: How would we go about doing that?

Me: No idea. But can you think of anything else from Star Wars people would like to beat with sticks?

Mike: Jar Jar.

Me: I don’t acknowledge the prequel series as canon.

Mike: That’s a little harsh, don’t you think?

Me: it isn’t harsh enough!

Mike: peals of laughter from upstairs while he resets the router

    Jar Jar Binks killed grandma:

I’ve seen Darth Vader pinatas, but, yeah, Jar Jar or an Ewok would be cooler. Will you smash it open with light sabers?

    • GeekLady says:

Nope. One, it’s a party for three year olds. Handing them plasma laser swords is a bad idea. Two, it would burn the candy. Three, our light sabers (the party favors) are actually big bubble wands, and probably not sturdy enough! 🙂

You can actually buy an Ewok piñata on Etsy, but they need a lead time of three weeks, and we only have two. We’re going to have to make our own.

Oooo. Where did you find bubble wand light sabers? I’m planning a star wars/princess birthday party for my girls and those would be perfect.

Yeah, plasma lasers and children don’t mix.

    • GeekLady says:

They aren’t official light sabers or anything. They’re just big bubble wands, but they come in long transparent colored plastic tubes and look like light sabers. Wal-mart has them in blue, green, purple, and pink (girls are the Sith!) for a buck apiece.
